You and your family, the girl scouts, and your friends are always welcome to visit my spot on the river. When I saw you and your friends walking on the road toward Indian Orchard a week or so ago, I wish I had stopped to tell you that you and your friends were welcome to visit my spot. When I see you walking across my land with your two girls, it warms my heart. It makes me feel good that children, or anyone, is appreciating and connecting with nature. You and your family, your friends, and the scouts are welcome to utilize my picnic tables, Adirondacks, and hammock. (Sometimes they are tied up from the threat of flooding.) Thanks for your posts/articles.
When does your book come out? I’ve been forming a theory in my head that maybe the one time in our history that our country has been close to equitable (close to “great”) was Reconstruction. I’ve idealized it as this ever so brief moment in time that was beautiful, and yet the white South rose against it with another century of torture. I’m on the hunt for good books, documentaries, etc about it.
This fall, Sara! We really love the work of Kidada Williams, who writes about Reconstruction, and Peniel Joseph's The Third Reconstruction is really good too.
Ha! I was kicked out of brownies (asked to leave) because I wouldn't stop talking and pay attention. I wish I could be the daughters you're raising, Belle, but I was a little bit of a hell-raiser. Still am, I'm afraid.
An absolutely beautiful post that squeezes my heart and makes me think of everyone I have ever loved

Thank you, Mark!

Ha--I am not sure I'm a good Daisy mom, to be honest!
