i LOVE the shivers!! and I have a whole library of ghost story books I have collected since I was a kid (would love to show you some time!) Your suggestions for how to tell (or read) a scary story are excellent and I plan to wear something dark and tattered next time I'm reading one. My favorites are Gray Man on the NC coast and the one about the girl who is always on her way home from the prom (there was a song written about her!) and one from my hometown about a statue in the cemetery who once had rubies for eyes. Thank you for this amazing post. and oh my, that dive!! how great is that??
Oh! We'd LOVE to see. The Gray Man is a great one. I will tell Bea. Could be an ancestor on the Haynes side! I especially love the hometown/local stories. And I forgot to put in today's post that on Friday the girls and I came home from our walk and watched Disney's The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. I remember that being so scary, but they were both fine with it.
We love frog and toad, and the Old Dark Frog remains an archetype of something scary in our house, as well as the Frog (or was it Toad?) "spinning in the dark" when he grew too arrogant and self centered. THE FROG AND OLD DARK FROG costumes are ENCHANTING AND GENIUS!
