YOU make me hopeful these days, Belle! Your tireless work to make our lives better. Your devotion to our schools and to nature and to speaking out about democracy and the importance of voting (not to mention writing books and teaching)- Thank you. I hope that Bea and Harriet are feeling much better!
What's giving me hope: my Unaffiliated mom committed this weekend to being a monthly donor to my Granville county democratic party, which desperately needs to raise money to fund outreach and our blue ballots program this year. To have the monetary support from someone who isn't fully on board in other ways...it means a lot.
That's huge, Liz! I'm so inspired by your work in Granville and with the Young Democrats. We had a big win last night in Chatham that I'll be excited to tell you about--and it came (in part) from unexpected places, too.
School board--the next step is advocating to county commissioners (we were working on teacher supplements in support of our local NCAE chapter). That happens next month and even though we've met with some of them individually this will be our first time going to the meetings. Any tips welcome!
That's awesome!! Sending solidarity and good vibes. (And a confession: I haven't been to any of our school board meetings, just a couple county commissioner meetings.) It's something I'd like to do more of, but only so many hours in the day and all that. But generally I'd say learning the basics of Roberts Rules of Order is a good way to understand what's going on (also still learning that but it's what most of these bodies use) :)

Thank you, Jill! I think they'll be well enough for a picnic today, which I'm excited about. Can't wait to tell you about our Chatham County WIN!
