I have never seen a Luna Moth. My heart hurt as I read about her will to survive. Covid has given me the time to observe animals more closely than ever. Beth, Miles, and I spotted a wolf spider spinning it's web from the porch roof to the railing Wednesday night. I had never watched a spider weaving a web before. Watching its legs work together was astonishing! Its legs reminded me of human fingers weaving or knitting. I can't believe that in 68 years I had never taken the time to watch a spider at work. I felt an incredible connection to the spider on Wednesday night, and I felt that same type of connection to the Luna Moth today as I read your post. My love to all.

So great you were able to convince your kayaking neighbor. I have not had that kind of success with the 2 folks I know. They are "hesitant," mostly because of misinformation. So sad. Love your posts!!! Continue to take care of your sweet family and of course love hearing about your outdoor adventures! Have shared them with my daughter and her family...

This is so beautiful. Bea, I think that your compliment to the Luna moth is really meaningful. It made me think. What does it mean to be strong? It doesn't mean that everything always turns out for the best. It doesn't mean "strong" in the traditional sense, like being able to lift 100 pounds of horse feed by yourself. I think being strong can be different for all sorts of different situations. And different for each animal, or plant, or person. Sometimes, lichen in an Arctic environment, as tiny and modest as it is, is a wonderfully strong thing. And a drip of water over time can change the shape of rock. Some of the strongest people I know wouldn't stand out in a crowd at all. But I love that, too.

i have the only luna moth i’ve ever seen( i found in parking lot of Scott’s Store in Walkerton) his(thick antenna?) rest with my butterfly ,birdsnests and shell collection on the breakfront of our dining room some of the nests were woven from the hairs of

Sammy (a miniature horse!) who lives in Walkerton the centerpiece is a very old tray which is of butterflies pressed under glass! my grandfather or maybe my Uncle Vin? brought it back from Africa when they served in the military

a very long time ago all of the butterflies were found in the road not living but their preserved beauty has

lived to tell their tales
