Great one. And like you, I've witnessed the undercurrent of racism and sexism that's still alive in our state. I know you are right, that's a reason Beasley is keeping her campain so above board, clean, and nice. I can only hope that we have great turnout in November. Kansas gave me hope!
This is such a good post, Belle. I wish I had gotten to hear all of the wonderful authors the other night and help raise money for Cheri Beasley! I agree that men need to step up and do more of the nitty gritty. I often think that the double/triple/quadruple duty that women perform hasn't changed significantly from when your mother and I were raising our kids. It is very discouraging. Racism and sexism are still pervasive. A post like yours today gives me hope though. People like yourself, who are so busy but still going the extra mile when they have so little left in the tank to give, but doing it any way because the future of our grandchildren. and children depends upon us being willing to do just that.
I needed this post. This morning I realized that someone had stolen my Black Lives Matter sign which has sat to left of my front porch for years. To do this the person had to stand in my front yard 5 stair steps and about three feet from my front door. I can't believe how brazen the person was.
Our Chief Justice Beasley and our Author Activist Boggs help me feel connected and creative. When I’m reminded of the work and struggles of real people’s stories, and this blog post is overflowing with them, I can feel what I call a perspective correction. I’ve learned to suppress wasted forecasting of the apocalypse, no use adding unnecessary drag. Belle and Cheri remind me to use my best stuff to contribute to the solution—one contribution, one positive effort, one moment of proactive energy at a time.

Thanks, Karen! Turnout is key. I’m going to do some phone banking and hopefully some canvassing soon!
Thank you Belle, great to hear your voice!
