Hi Belle, Beatrice, and Harriet, it’s Skipper! I believe that there are two other reasons that the mother lays on a full moon. 1. The tides will be higher which helps to make the nest above the high tide line. 2. The incubation period should correspond roughly to the next full moon which will be a guiding light for the baby turtles to return to the sea! You may want to research that Beatrice ❤️

I will! Thank you for the advice and information, Skipper! Also, I bet you have seen a lot of turtles hatching since you live at the beach. I also wonder, do you have a lot of pets? I bet you have dogs. Love, Bea

Hi Beatrice & Belle - (Beatrice, My name is Andrea, I'm in your mom's writing class.) Thank you for this post. I love sea turtles. The sea turtle tracks and flipper patterns in the sand are super neat to see! And it's amazing how deep down in the sand the eggs are! I am glad to know the Turtle Patrol is keeping an eye out to protect the turtles. And it was so lucky that your family got to see the eggs!
