Dear Frog Troublers! First of all, we’re sorry to be a little slow in posting and writing back to comments—Bea has been busy with a play these last two weeks, and Belle has been busy with a book project. But we’ve been working on a post about Haw River/watershed health, including runoff pollution. As we wait for this weekend’s swim safety guide (fingers crossed it’ll be safe to splash!), we have a question for you:
What was (or is) your favorite summer game?
We’re putting together a crafty mobile guide to games, and we want to know about all kinds of games, including:
-backyard games
-indoor games
-car games
-pool/water games
-clapping games
-games to play by yourself
-games to play in a small group, and even…
-games to play with alllll your cousins, friends, and neighbors
So tell us your favorite game (Kick the Can? Plain old Hide & Seek?) and a little about how to play it/any special adaptations. We’ll have more about river health on Sunday, and a big games post with a fun craft idea next week!
Bonus: we’ll randomly choose one lucky commenter to win an audiobook—either a favorite chosen by Belle and Bea or a book of your choosing*. So tell us—what’s your favorite game?
*Winner will be chosen Sunday.
Hot and dry summer temperatures are the standard in Sacramento - we need indoor games for midday. Both my kids have been playing chess lately and we've been noticing what a perfect game it is. For a more spatial, colorful part of the brain: we love Katamino! Thanks for the summer posts!
I loved visiting my grandparents in Greensboro, at a time of no air conditioning and not much money at all. Like everyone, we sat on the front porch at night and said hello to neighbors passing by. I loved Red Light Green Light and Mother May I with my siblings and neighbors. A little older, and we spent all our time acting out fairy tales and books and even putting on performances for the neighborhood. Sometimes at night we played bridge or rummy.
