Ah - thank you, Bea and Belle for sharing this. I had so hoped to attend this service for such a special woman but turned out that I could not. Now I have felt a bit of the unsurprising love that was present.

Had also looked forward to seeing you and hopefully others from the trip - think of you often as well!

You are right--it was a chapel full of love, so many people. We appreciated the chance to learn more about Dale's ministry and love of poetry. Miss you!

So sweet , the connection to greatness even in pain and death. Maybe that is the presence of God the poem refers to. So sorry for your loss. As always when I hear such stories my thoughts are first selfish - I wished I’d known them. So glad Bea had that connection.

Thank you, Ken! I'm sure you'll be busy when Helen graduates but if you have a little time we could all take a walk or get pizza... Or we will definitely make some time to visit Asheville this summer.

I am the church historian of Elkin Presbyterian Church in Elkin, NC, where the Rev. Dale Walker served as Interim Pastor in the early 2000s. I am compiling a list of books and articles that she wrote. Do you know of some of the titles and where I might find copies?

Belle and Bea,

What a lovely tribute to someone who sounds like she was so very impactful in a life dedicated to service. How nice that her legacy extends not only through her colleagues and parishioners, but also through new friends as young as Bea. Dale's life and work will reach far beyond her own mortal years. Thank you for sharing her life with us.
